What Causes Red Bumps On The Shaft Of My Penis?

Question: Hi, I have 3 red pumps on the shaft of my penis. They look almost like a pimple. I wanted to clean the area so I put hydrogen peroxide o them with a swab. They do not hurt, however once the peroxide touched the area 2 of the bumps began to fizz a little in the center, the appearance looks almost like a white head. What is this and how can I treat it? By the way I have a prescription for a zpack. I read that that can be helpful with certain STI like gonherrea or chlomedia.

Brief Answer: You can also apply lotion gentian violet locally. Detailed Answer: Hello XXXXX Thanks for writing to HCM There are number of causes for red spots on the penis depending on the size,number,distribution,any pain or itching. People often get scared when they find red sores on the penis but most of the time it is harmless.It is not related to HIV. Red sores may be due to many reasons.It may be due to infection,allergy etc. Infection is usually due to fungus whereas allergy may be due to sweating,lubricants etc. In these cases it should be treated with antibiotic, antifungal,antiallergic or steroid cream. If they still persist then it's perhaps a condition which needs to be further investigated. You can apply cream containing steroid like beclomethasone and antibiotics. You can also apply lotion gentian violet locally twice daily for five days.Your lesions reacted probably due to excessive hydrogen peroxide. Take antihistaminics like tablet levocetrizine 10 mg at night for one week. You are rightly taking Z pack empirically. You need few investigations like routine hemogram,RBS,urine RE/ME. You should try to keep the area dry.It is important to wear clean and dry underpants.You should regularly clean the collection(smegma)present undersuface of prepuce. Get well soon.
