What Causes Red Blotches On Face After Severe Vomiting?

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Jun 2014
Question: I have questions unanswered and waiting for a response from earlier today.
They involved some colicky pain in my kidney area, which is subsiding.
However, I threw up for 20 minutes last night- quite violently- and about an hour later had red blotches all over my face. They are still here today. Is it from the throwing up? What can I do or put on my face to get rid of the blotches? How long will they last? I can not go out of my house looking like this.

Brief Answer:
it will disappear in 2-3 days.

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for asking HCM,

I understand your concern but there is no reason for fear. Red spots are common after severe vomiting. Vomiting can put pressure on your capillaries by overloading them with blood. These condition disappears in 2-3 days. You can try cool compresses on the affected areas.

I would suggest you to visit a doctor if you have recurring episodes of vomiting. Until then try to be hydrated as much as you can. Drink a lot of fluids, at least 1.5-2 L per day.
If your patches don't disappear than visit your GP. Than these symptoms could be caused by an allergy.

I hope this answer was helpful to you.
