Posted on Thu, 7 Apr 2016
Question: I got fever on Night of 18th XXXXXXX 2016, acute shivering, acute pain in whole body and high fever too, I consulted Doctor, he recommended Peracetamol 300mg TDSx3 days, Multivitamin BDx3 days. After two days the aggression of pain, shivering and fever got reduced, i consulted him again, as doses were over, he again repeated the medicine and added one AntiBiotic eFlox BDx4days.

On 25th XXXXXXX 2016, I joined Service. I was feeling healthy.

Now on 28th XXXXXXX 2016 in office, i got same shivering, pain and fever, i took Crocine 650mg as provided by ememrgency medicare pepole.

I consulted another doctor, as the first one was out of country, the new doctor asked for Maleria Paracite test and Hematology. after seeing the report, he recommended

Augmentin 625mg TDSx5Days and Crocine 650mg TDSx5days.

There was no difference in pain, re occuring of fever, shivering, i again undergone Blood Tests, and found that due to high doses of Augmentin 625 mg, iKFT potassium has been increased to 5.33. there as another doctor, he told, to stop Augmentine immediately and i stopped all medicine since last night.

I got fever last night, 101Degree and it got subsided in one hour, without medication.

Please guide me to gain my health back. i am under lot of fear, feeling like loosing all health.

Brief Answer:
Fever undiagnosed

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

It seems that cause of your fever has so far remained un-diagnosed.

Your TLC (Total Leucocyte Count) is high 14100 / cumm. That suggests bacterial infection either upper or lower respiratory tract or urinary tract infection, being common sites of infection.

In absence of input regarding clinical findings, I suggest further investigation like Rapid malaria antigen (intermittent fever resolving sometimes on its own), Urine routine examination, Widal test, Blood culture and X-ray chest PA View(as you are having fever since 18.1.16).
However you need to be back on some antibiotic preferably broad spectrum like cephalosporin group as being the drug of choice for empirical treatment of unknown bacterial infection.I would prefer cefixime (standard dose 200 mg BD orally) pending reports of further test results.
Consult your doctor again.
