Brief Answer:
Follow your doctors advice

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Cold and cough is usually viral in nature and repeated episodes are common at this age as children's immune system is maturing now.
You need not worry as the blood tests and chest xray are normal which rules out serious bacterial infections like pneumonia.
However my suggestions are.
1. Follow your doctors advice, don't start medicines on your own without proper clinical examination which is must at this age.
2. Till you see your doctor you can try simple antihistamines like cetrizine and cough relief with ambroxol..
Avoid sweets and chocolates.
Ensure he drinks plenty of liquids to keep him hydrated.
Wishing your child good health and speedy recovery.
Regards
Dr Arun
