What Causes Rashes On The Lower Right Jaw

default
Posted on Fri, 31 Mar 2017
Question: Good evening, I woke up this morning and saw a rash on my lower right jaw, it looks like a pair of pimples. I am worried it might be herpes. Could it possible be a bug bite? This is the only area where I see a rash like this.

Brief Answer:
Herpes most likely although possibility of insect bite can't be excluded

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photograph and it seems to be herpes most likely although possibility of insect bite can't be excluded completely.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply topical antibiotic like mupirocin cream or neosporin ointment on the affected areas twice daily for 7-10 days.
This should resolve it.

Thank you doctor, I know there are two types of herpes. If this is herpes what type would it fall under? At this time would I be contagious? As in if I kiss someone or if someone gives me oral sex would they be at risk?

Would this be type 1 or 2? I'm just really scared because I don't have any lesions in my mouth or around my mouth or on my genitals.

It's just on my lower right chin. Is the the herpes that is reoccurring so after it heals it'll come back in the same place?

Brief Answer:
Both type 1 and type 2 can cause these eruptions

Detailed Answer:
Herpes on the upper part of the body is usually caused by HSV type 1 but in some cases it can be caused by HSV type 2 .
The type of virus can be confirmed by going for ELISA test but the treatment remains the same whether it is caused by type 1 or 2.
It is not necessary that it will recur on the same site but usually it occurs on the neighbouring areas.
