Brief Answer: Kindly send in pictures of rash... Detailed Answer: Hi, I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns. Before running into conclusions, I'd like to have a picture of the rash at the place where arm picc was inserted. That could help me assist you further! To me, from what you are describing, the rash you noticed in your arm could be related to a temporary allergic reaction to the dressing. It is common to have such rash and it will be gone in few days. I suggest to apply cold compresses to the affected area. If the rash will persist for more days, then, should contact your doctor for further evaluation. Looking forward to have the pictures in! Thank you! Dr.Albana

Brief Answer: Confirmed temporary allergic reaction to dressing. Detailed Answer: Hi back, Thank you for following up. I have gone through the picture you sent, and I can confirm that the rash you have is due to dressing when you had the catheter in. Besides cold compresses, can apply otc zinc oxide cream. I have noticed that the hole of catheter has more rash and swollen (correct me if I mistake). In this particular part, you can apply cold compresses and to watch it very carefully in the upcoming days. Can apply the zinc oxide cream but avoid applying it in the hole area. Do not scratch it even if hard skin will be cover it. If you notice anything unusual (getting more swollen, or pus), should consult your doctor as soon as possible. Otherwise, the rest is a common allergic reaction to dressing. If it will become more itchy, can apply hydrocortisone cream or any otc anti-itching cream. Let me know if you have more queries! Wish fast recovery! Dr.Albana
