What Causes Rash In Itching Groin Area?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Apr 2014
Question: I had protected sex about a month and a half ago and then about two weeks ago had unprotected oral sex. But I believe about 8 days after oral I had a small rash on my groin at the base of my shaft but not on it. That went away within 48 hours after using anti fungal cream but then I started noticing small, flat, round shaped pink spots on my groin which are from what I can see at the base of my pubic hairs. On my inner thighs they aren't really connected to any hairs. It itches sometimes but not all the time but mainly when I think about it. Please help.

Brief Answer: Monitor this and obtain more information Detailed Answer: Hi and thank you so much for this query. I am so sorry to hear about this rash and all the disturbing thoughts this has caused you. The description of your symptoms is not typical of any sexually transmitted disease. It sounds like a fungal infection but many elements are lacking right now to say for sure this is the case. I understand your heightened fears about having contracted a sexually transmitted disease but this is not the case. It would be very rare to contract fungal infection through unprotected oral sex. My advice is that you give us sometime to understand exactly what is going on. Depending on the findings, we would be able to gather more information and make a more convincing diagnosis for a disease condition if there is one. Also, this rash that only itches when you think about it raises a psychological component to this disease. You may be more worried about the possibility of having contracted a disease than the actual disease. You have experienced the nightmares associated with unprotected sex. I am certain you would not want to experience this again. Always consider using protection during every sexual encounter to stay free of these troubling thoughts and and the risk of a possible infection. In all, observe this and report any more symptoms for a more rounded diagnosis as the symptoms now are not diagnostic of any typical disease condition on or around the genitals for now. I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to request for more information and clarifications if need be. Dr. Ditah, MD.
