Hi, I've had the spots on my fingers for two months
I only noticed the spots on the roof of my mouth yesterday - but I dont regularly look there.

My fingertips burn a little, hurt like splinters when I use them and I sometimes feel pins and needles.
The roof of my mouth doesn't feel any different to normal.

No blood in stool.

Could it be related to a folate deficiency? Mcv
Or mono? - I've been really exhausted lately

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Get platelet levels checked

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
Yes folate deficiency can be related to this.
It is indirectly involved in platelet synthesis.
Please get your platelet levels checked.
Also get bleeding and clotting time tested.
These lesions are appearing as pin point bleeds.
Thank you

Hi,

My platelet levels are within normal.
My folate stores are low,
My haemoglobin level is 108.

Doc says I'm not anemic tho.

I haven't got a cough or cold or a temperature but I'm the most exhausted I have ever been.

Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
please check reports again

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Please check the reports again.
Your hemoglobin is 10.8 I guess?
If it is true you are definitely anaemic.
Anaemia can be related to tiredness and exhaustion as well as pin point bleed.
Check and Let me know the reports again.

Hello yes my haemoglobin is 108 g/l or 10.8 g/dl

However, when i asked , my doc said i wasn't anaemic as my iron stores are Normal.

Should I eat or take anything to help it then?

Why would my body not be absorbing folate when I take 300 % rda per day for 4 months?

Thank you
doctor

Brief Answer:
Megaloblastic anaemia

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Anaemia is purely defined in terms of hemoglobin.
As you have folate deficiency, probably you have developed megaloblastic anaemia.
Iron stores are not the only factor determining anaemia.
In few individuals folate is not absorbed properly from gut.
In such cases there will always be a folate deficiency even if you take extra doses.
You may need injectable folate.
Please meet your doctor and discuss regarding this.
Thank you

Just one last thing. Can dehydration affect the results of haemoglobin in my blood test?

Brief Answer:
Yes it can affect

Detailed Answer:
