What Causes Prolonged Breast Pain?

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Feb 2015
Question: I have been having breast pain for the past week and half . They feel like they are going to shoot out milk there is so much pressure in them. My nipples feel like someone is stabbing me in them. This is a real concern to me. This has never happened before. In early life I did Breastfeed for two years. With my pregnancy it only happened for one day. In early life. I did take a pregnancy test it's negative. The scary part is I take the medication haldol . I have read that one off the least common symptoms of haldol is leaking swollen breast and Breast enlargement . My breast went up a whole cup size. I also have gained 20 lbs this month and still gaining. Frequent urination all day long . And. Throwing up from the time I wake up till about three in the afternoon. The first couple of weeks after starting the haldol I was very thirsty and was craving a lot of milk. I know I need to get another pill to take away the side effects of this haldol but my dr refuses to and not to take me off the haldol period . The haldol is used for mental illness for me. Do I have anything to worry about if these side effects do not go away?

Brief Answer:
Side effect of Haldol...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation you are in.

1. You are reporting to have:
- breast pain for the past week and half
- increased size of breasts
- gain weight

Altogether they are related to Haldol medication you are using. You can discuss these side effects with your psychiatrist in order to change therapy.

2. You are excluding pregnancy as your recent pregnancy test resulted negative.

Taking all this into account and the fact that all has happened for 1 week and half, another possible explanation might be hormonal changes due to incoming periods.

Now, you are reporting to have partially removed cervix, and not all uterus. This makes me think that you are still having your monthly periods. If this is your case, then, I advise to wait until your next periods will come, and then, discuss to change therapy with psychiatrist.

Hope it was of help!
