What Causes Positive Result For Treponema Pallidum Haemagglutination (TPHA)test?
Question: Hi
Recently I was tested TPHA positive and vdrl negative at Medical centre,I consulted dermatology she suggested doxy antibiotics for two weeks
After two weeks I have to test again for my Muscat visa
Will it will be negative in 15 days or I have to take more medicine. I am 27 yrs old never ever had sex with any body till now
Hwz it possible of TPHA positive
I am really scared and don't know what to do next. Please help me out of this critical situation or else it will really affect my career and job

If there is no risk exposure there are chances of false positive also.You can go for FTA Abs test or EIA test for confirmation. Discuss with your doctor for investigation.Continue treatment .
The TPHA can take some days to come negative after treatment may be months.
Some selected jobs require syphilis negativity.
Go for confirmatory tests.
You can get back for any clarification.

As I had consulted at XXXXXXX but at present I am at my hometown, I want to clarify that if I will intake penicillin along with doxycycline, will it recover spe edily. Within 10 days, I need it urgently
After how many days I should go for tpha again to check the progress

It is unlikely for tpha to come negative sooner as it is an antibody test. As said earlier It takes days- months for it to come negative after treatment. Antibodies exist even if there is no active infection.
So please go for confirmatory tests to confirm disease after discussion with your doctor.
Progression of disease is not monitored by tpha test as it tends to remain positive for long time.
Visa refusal depends on type of job. They may not consider it as ground for refusal in many jobs.
