What Causes Pink Discoloration On The Foreskin Of The Penis?

default
Posted on Tue, 12 Sep 2017
Question: sudden changes in the colour of my foreskin over 6 months. It is now a pink colour and appears to be spreading to the length of the penis. I saw a Dr several months ago and was prescribed fluconazole for one week along with clotrimazole topical ointment. I have had splitting of the foreskin when erect but timely healing. The Dr I advised that I may need to see a dermatologist. I'm concerned about the spreading of the colour change and splitting. What do you recommend and what is/are the prognosis in your opinion?

Brief Answer:
Either vitiligo or lichen sclerosus et atrophicus, answer few questions

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at Healthcaremagic
I have gone through your complaints and reviewed the attached photograph.
It seems to be either vitiligo or lichen sclerous et atrophicus.
Both are chronic conditions of the skin.
I need to ask you few questions:
Are you having itching, burning or any other complaints on the affected areas?
Is the texture of the skin over the affected area normal or altered?
Do you have any urinary complaints?
Kindly revert with the answers.
Regards
Dr Asmeet

Thank you for your timely response. To answer your questions, there is itching of the affected skin but no burning. The affected skin is also inclined to tear easily when I have an erect penis. However small micro tears which appear to heal in about 2 to 3 days XXXXXXX I have not detected any urinary problems.

Brief Answer:
Looks lichen sclerosus et atrophicus, topical steroid and antihistaminic

Detailed Answer:
According to your complaints it seems to be lichen sclerosus et atrophicus.
I would recommend you to consult a dermatologist for the same.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply topical steroid like clobetasol propionate cream on the affected areas twice daily and raised antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10mg once daily at bedtime.
Steroidal preparations are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
