would i get a better result if i went to univ. of XXXXXXX emergency dept. instead of colo. springs? Unfortunately, i got dumped into Medicaid XXXXXXX after aha passed. Could this affect my ability to get mri/ quality follow up care? Why are drs. concerned about getting in trouble for ordering a simple mri? Should I pay for one, myself?

Brief Answer:
There are protocols to be followed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

Symptoms and problems you describe, don't seem to be related to any brain or spine condition.

Symptoms you describe are not so consistent with trauma too. Maybe the trauma worsened them.

In my opinion, you need to be checked up for gastrointestinal problems and imaging modalities about abdomen evaluation include Echography, x-Rays, gastroduodenal endoscopy, colonoscopy, CT scan with contrast ( if alergic to intravenous/iodine contrast medium could be used oral/ barium based contrast medium) and abdominal MRI.

So, there are "stairs" in ordering imaging studies, if the simplest imaging studies don't conclude diagnosis, more complex ones are ordered.

In my opinion, a abdominal CT scan with oral contrast medium, gives sufficient information about achieving a diagnosis.

Another possibility of having done CT scan is a 24 hour prior to it, desensibilation protocol.

I don't think it makes any difference between medical facilities, there are protocols to follow by Doctors.

I suggest you to discuss with your treating Doctor about these possibilities.

Hope I helped you. I remain at your disposal for further questions or clarifications.

Wishing you good health.
