Posted on Fri, 5 Sep 2014
Question: Hello - when I start coughing I have now found that i need to pass water to stop it - if I don't, I cough and cough then sneeze - once I have gone, it stops though I also have to blow my nose as it has started running - would you know what all this means please? I find I can start to cough when I get excited or in slightly stressful situations. ????????

Brief Answer:
vagal effect

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Very frankly, it sounds like this is the effect of anxiety.
The effect of micturition may be stimulating the vagus nerve.
This may be giving you temporary relief.
Best of luck
