What Causes Patches Of Light Pink Colored Bumps On Stomach And Back?

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Nov 2014
Question: My son has flesh/light pink colored patches (similarity to welts, but not sure i would call them welts) that are raised on his stomach, sides and few on his back. He says they are "kind of itchy". He has no fever. Patches average quarter inch or less. He has none on legs, arms, groing, head, face, neck, butt or feet. His appeared this evening.
No puss. Doesn't hurt to touch. No changes in laundry soap, animals etc. neighbor boy developed patches this morning but told his mom after school. She thinks his are hives and says they look like welts (oval) and red but he has them on his arms, neck, legs, stomach and back. I can provide pictures if needed. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Rashes due to allergy

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir/mam

Welcome to healthcaremagic.

The symptoms which you told me regarding your son's patches seems to me due to some allergy.Yes they might be hives(urticaria) as i see in the picture. They can appear anywhere on the body, including the face, lips, tongue, throat, or ears.

These rashes appeared because your son might be allergic to some substances.Anything can be an allergen. Dust, pollen, plants, medications, (such as ibuprofen, sulfa drugs, foods (common food allergies include shrimp and other shellfish, peanuts, chocolate, fish, tomatoes, eggs, fresh berries, and milk), insect bites (such as from mosquitos or bees), animal dander, viruses, or bacteria are examples of allergens.

I would advise you to do an allergy profile test fro your son,so that you know specifically which substances is he being allergic,so that you can take prevention later. He should be treated with a anti allergic drug which will cure his problems. In the meantime,

Apply a wet, cold compress to the hives to reduce the swelling and cool the inflamed skin.
Apply aloe vera topically to the hives as well as to the skin surrounding any affected areas.
Enrich your son's diet to increase his immune system.

Hope this helped.Feel free to ask anymore queries.Thank You.

Is there a reason it only shows on his stomach and little on his back area and no where else? Or is it that an allergic reaction can be anywhere or specific to a certain area only depending on what caused the reaction?

Brief Answer:
No specific reason

Detailed Answer:
Hello there,

There is no specific reason for it to be on your son's stomach. It can be anywhere in the abdomen, back buttocks or upper and lower limbs.Every body is different and react in a different way.
