What Causes Pains In Clavicle Bones?

default
Posted on Fri, 11 Jul 2014
Question: A couple of years ago, I fell down a flight of stairs and cracked all of my ribs. I am a 61 yr old woman. My Clavicle bones really hurt, but they didn`t stick out then By the way I am very thin. It has been a week and a half since I lifted a heavy box, and now the top of my right clavicle is sticking out maybe the size and shape of a large marble. What do you think this could be? By the way it hurts pretty bad.

Brief Answer:
Please, get an xray to evaluate!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear of the accident you had some years back and the current pains from the clavicle that you have described. From the information provided, this would most likely represent a fractured clavicle given the acute onset, the intensity of the pains and the sticking out nature. To confirm this, you would need a clinical exam by your doctor followed by an xray to describe the exact abnormality going on with the clavicle. Depending on the results, a personalized treatment plan would be proposed to you and followed through.

In all, this sounds like a fracture .Get a clinical exam and possibly and xray for evaluation and treatment by your doctor. I will suggest you add paracetamol to the treatment now before seeing your doctor who would prescribe more potent pain medications. Do you have any bone abnormality?

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
