What Causes Painful Swelling In The Calf Region?

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Apr 2017
Question: One of my legs has been painful in the calf area (like sore muscles, but for a couple of weeks) and is swollen (about 1 to 1 1/2 inch bigger around than the other leg. What would cause this? I'm also having pretty serious hip and back pain, but am not as worried because I have a history of arthritis. I don't have a cell phone.

Brief Answer:
Colour doppler is required.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

Pain in calf region with soreness should not be ignore.

Swelling calf area is due to deep vein thrombosis, varicose veins, and phlebitis etc

In my opinion you should visit orthopaedic surgeon who will do your complete physical examination, he may advise you colour doppler of that lower limb to see the present condition of blood vessels.

Send me the report of colour doppler, so that I can further guide you.

Also ger xray of both knees standing in AP view and send me the report, I want to see the present condition of your joint.

Till then have tab. aceclofenac 100mg + thiocolchicoside 4mg by prescription of your family doctor.

I hope you got the point.

Thanks,
