Detailed Answer:
Provisional Diagnosis-Painful Lump on Calf ?Gastrocnemius Tear with Calf strain

Hi,Dear,Thanks for the query to HCM virtual clinic.

I studied your query meticulously and understood your health concerns.
The fact that the lump which is squishy and moves in same direction as you move your foot up and down, indicates the tear in the gastrocnemius / and or/ calf strain.
Hoping and Jumping / and twisting strainous movements of basketball game are known to lead to calf strain.
Treatment- would be
MSK USG(musculo skeletal USG )study or MRI study to grade the calf strain
Consult a Sports doctor who would fix the grade of the Calf strains of the 3 grades.
Till the time Use Cold Compresses,
Hot pads
Anti-inflammatory Drugs to reduce pain
-Rehabilitative exercises under cover of Sports doctor
Rest and Elevation
Surgical intervention -in grade 3 calf strain with 50-100 % calf muscle tear may be done if need be,usually after first conservative treatment as above.
Hope this would help you to plan treatment with your sports doctor,to whom you should consult as soon as possible.
