What Causes Painful Discoloration On The Toe?

default
Posted on Fri, 23 Dec 2016
Question: My middle toe on my left foot started hurting and felt numb a couple nights ago. Today that toe is discolored starting below the nail. It is just discolored on the top of the toe. I'm a diabetic, have HBP. I also have central retinal vein occlusion in my right eye. I have bi-lateral trigeminal neuralgia, which I've had surgery for on both sides. Rupturing of many tendons in my hands and arms. Just recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. Is this an emergency?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to necrosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The discoloration of toe with pain without any history of injury in the area can be due to decreased blood circulation in the area causing necrosis. Such complication is often associated with diabetes.
It is best to consult your doctor for proper diagnosis so the measures can be taken to avoid further necrosis.
I hope this answers your query.
