What Causes Pain Radiating From Hip To Left Toe While On Hydrocodone?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Nov 2016
Question: I had spine surgery on July 11 2016, which included fusion, spacer, etc. Unfortunately, I am still suffering from pain from my left hip, buttock and down my left leg and into my left toe. Additionally, I am not stable on my left side and use a cane most of the time. The chronic pain is the main problem. I take hydrocodone 10/325 several times a day, but relief is minimal. Any suggestions to help with pain relief? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Pregabalin or gabapentin may be useful.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.

I have noted your clinical details. In your case, the pain seems to be neuropathic due to pinched nerve in the back. In this case, treatment with pregabalin or gabapentin capsules would be effective.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
