What Causes Pain On Left Side Of Abdomen Along With Difficulty Urinating?

Question: Hi. My husband is having the following symptoms. (he has a history of alcoholism and some drug use)
Pain on left side that runs up and down side. Pain has been present for 4+ months. Sometimes its very painful, other times the pain is there but not severe. Pain in the side seems to be made worse when he eats.
He is drinking a lot of Pepto bismol. Says his stomach hurts all the time (keeps holding his hand over the top part of his stomach)
Pain in the testicles. Difficulty urinating. Recent symptom in the last 2 months. Sometimes has blood in his urine, sometimes he doesn't.
Also, seems to have an inguinal hernia-bulge in the groin area.
Has had blood in his stool almost every day for months now. Also has hemorrhoids. The amount of blood varies-sometimes its significant, sometimes its not.
When you take all the symptoms together, what is wrong with him

Brief Answer:
blood in stools should be taken seriously

Detailed Answer:
I wil try to help you with this, basically the issue your husband is having is alcoholism, with that blood in stools it might be hemorrhoids or because of GI bleed that we can rule out only with some blood investigations and an endoscopy or if needed colonoscopy .
And when you are saying that there swelling in the inguinal region then there must be an inguinal hernia itself ,if its really painfull better you consult your doctor regarding the same.
So overall you need to get some blood investigations like complete blood count,ESR,CRP,serum creatinine, liver function test with PT and INR ,HBsAg,HCV,an ultrasound abdomen to know the liver texture and portal hypertension and an endoscopy to rule out any varices or some upper GI bleed .
Thank you

Is it possible that all these symptoms are all just related to the inguinal hernia and hemorrhoids or no.

Brief Answer:
May be with hemorrhoids

Detailed Answer:
Inguinal hernia causes pain abdomen ,but not blood in stools for that we need to rule out other causes ,so the investigations what I asked will help me to think of the cause for everything
thank you
