Brief Answer:
This is typical when people have a sore throat.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

It is not uncommon, when people have a sore throat from an infection of post nasal drainage (from infection or allergies), that swallowing food may be soothing or not hurt, but simply swallowing without food the throat feels sore.

Do you have any sinus symptoms of pressure in your sinus areas, a stuffy or runny nose, or feel like you have drainage down your throat? Even without noticeable symptoms of a cold or allergy, you may have some irritation of the throat. If it is a cold, it should resolve in the next week.

Brief Answer:
If this continues and is a significant problem, then do go in to dr.

Detailed Answer:
I don't think you are dealing with any thing concerning. The soreness is probably from a small amount of drainage in the throat that you may not be perceiving as happening. But if it continues for more than a week and is really uncomfortable, then do go in to the doctor so he or she can have a look.

well im not sure if im obsessed or something. Because it doesnt bother me. Most of the time when.i swallow feels normal. Just that when i swallow it kinda feels like a sore throat. Then i get scared and start swallowing a lot to see if i have the same sensation. i dont know if this helps but one of my co workers seemed to have allergies or.the cold. he had hoarseness and kept on coughing. But yeah i dont know if im over thinking things.

Brief Answer:
Yes, this is understandable.

Detailed Answer:
Sometimes when people have been exposed to a virus and their body is dealing with it there may be a slight sore throat. But often the body overcomes this and you don't get sick.

So if you think you may have been exposed, just eat well, get good sleep, don't overstress your body with a lot of alcohol or smoke cigarettes and you will be doing everything you can to keep healthy. And try not to swallow excessively, try to put your mind on other things, as focusing on your throat will likely make you feel more exaggerated or concerning symptoms than are there.

Brief Answer:
Hot teas and soups may help.

Detailed Answer:
You can sip hot teas (in particular peppermint or licorice root teas but any would be fine) and hot soups would be soothing. Can also take occasional spoon of honey.

But other than that, I would advise that you try not to think about it and leave it alone.
