Brief Answer:
give him bland diet

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to HCM.

The pain in the upper abdomen is due to enlarged liver and distended and edematous gall bladder. These will subside as the jaundice resolves.

Till then you need to give him a ppi like omeprazole or pantaprazole to ease off his gastritis, preferably with the antiemetic he has been prescribed. Continue rest of the medication.

Diet needs to be strictly bland with no oil or milk products. And boiled or filtered water only.

Give him ppi and antiemetic on empty stomach and after half an hour give him a light drink. If he tolerates it, slowly increase the quantity and frequency. Give the ppi and antiemetic twice a day for a week and then make it once a day as he improves.

Hope i have been helpful.

Regards
