Question: My daughter in law had a sudden onset of pain in her web area of left thumb and forefinger. It started swelling and the pain moved further into the joint. She experienced tingling of the face and sought help at a local emergency clinic. At the clinic, they mentioned stroke, and the fact of her being a smoker and the correlation to aiding to bring about a stroke. She is in her middle 40's and she was sent hope after being given an antibiotic, Tylenol 3 and having done x-rays.. Their possible diagnosis was related to stroke, and gout.

Brief Answer:
Require an MRI scan of the brain

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir/Madam.

Can certainly understand your concern.

The joint symptoms clearly point towards Gout.

The tingling sensation of the face needs further evaluation.

It's important that she get a MRI SCAN of the brain at the earliest to document the type of stroke and subsequent treatment if any.

Additionally, she requires blood testing for uric acid .

I would like to know if she is having diabetes and hypertension and taking any medications for above.

Further management if any is largely based on test results .

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
