What Causes Pain In Testicles?

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Sep 2014
Question: Hi Doctor,
I have dull pain on my right testicle and decided to check it out by using my fingers feeling and rolling around it. I think there is a part where the veins connect with the testis that is called Epididymis that if I try to pull it away from the veins slowly it gives me a very sharp pain.
I suspect the dull pain originates from there. Do you know if there is a serious problem with the dull pain that requires me to see a doctor or specialists?
It doesn't affect me generally except that I get occasional dull pain.

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Mr XXXX

From the description given it is unlikely to be serious issue. Possibility of Varicocele or Epididymitis which is inflammation of Epididymis needs to be considered.
Exact diagnosis will depend on good clinical examination by General Surgeon or Urologist. Color doppler and Ultrasound examination of Testis will be required.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Thanks for your reply and glad to know that it's not serious. I want to add another observation in that there are some parts of the testicle that seems to feel more painful when I apply pressure using my fingers on it and I could feel veins in those areas.
Anything to worry about?
Could it be onset of varicoceles?
Sorry my question is that, given the above symptoms do you think it warrants a visit to the specialist for the color Doppler and ultrasound examination?
Or I should just brush it off for now until more severe symptoms appear before visiting a specialist ? OR
Do you think I should go for an examination as these symptoms merits an early visit to the specialist for further clinical examination.
