Question: I am having pain in my scrotum it is not in my testicles just the scrotal sack. My doctor prescribed cream for a yeast infection I am having pain in my scrotum it is not in my testicles just the scrotal sack. My doctor prescribed cream for a yeast infection but that has not fixed it. The ER about a year ago said that I had something called pseudomonous which at night or when it got a bit hot would produce a blueish green discharge from the scrotal skin. It is quite painful meaning tender to the touch and at times the skin use to peel also.I am really trying to figure out what this may be. Currently I take methadone as a replacement for hydrocodone due to being a c3 incomplete quadriplegic.

Brief Answer:
Local hygiene and Anti Psuedomonal drugs cure it

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thank you for your contact to healthcare magic. I am Dr. Arun Tank I am infectious disease specialist. I hope I handle your query properly.

-As you have mentioned the ER doctors have mentioned the wound is infected with psuedomonas group of organisms. Also you have mentioned that discharge is bluish green in color. All this things suggest that the infection was caused by the pseudomonas aeruginosa which causes a blue green discoloration.
-I want to add that this group of organisms are multi drug resistant. Only anti psuedomonal antibiotic is the effective against such antibiotics. You can discuss this drugs with your treating doctor like Ceftazidime, Piperacillin-tazobactum, Tobramycin, Imipenem, Meropenem.

- If you have excruciating pain then continue with the opioid analgesic which you are using other wise switch to nonopioid analgesics like Aceclofenac, Diclofenac and paracetamol under your treating doctors consultation.

-Apart from drug local cleanliness, dressing, and hygiene with Betadine and antibiotic ointment, Dettol will cure half of your illness. Also focus on the undergarments you are using. Use clean, loose, cotton undergarment. Change it twice a day. Also take a bathe twice daily.

- I advice you to go for Random Blood Sugar test once because this infections are common in diabetics

If you have anything else to ask kindly contact me. otherwise close the question and rate me how I have give you suggestion.

Thank you
