Brief Answer:
Can be back muscle strain, intervetebral disc herniation should be ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to back muscle strain but possibility of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation should be ruled out as you have pain on legs also.

As you are lifting your baby every time there is chance of lower back muscle strain. In such cases over the counter analgesics like Ibuprofen (motrin), hot fomentation and local anti inflammatory gels will be helpful.

It is better to rule out a Lumbar intervertebral disc injury if pain is more and lasting longer. Consultation with an orthopedic surgeon followed by MRI in case of positive signs will help to rule out this. Wearing lumbar supporting belts also will be helpful. Get some assistance for lifting baby and avoid lifting yourself. Lifting heavy weights also should be avoided.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
