Brief Answer: Could be due to Post Op Bladder Neck Stenosis. Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have benign enlargement of prostate and had undergone Vaporisation of prostate on 16 March and since then have difficulty in passing urine . I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem. 1) What was the size of prostate reported on ultrasound scanning before going for surgery.?and what was the volume post void residual urine? 2) Is there any specific reason for going for vaporization rather than doing conventional endoscopic resection of prostate (TURP)? or Lesser Prostatectomy? Difficulty in passing urine and burning in perineal region is most likely to be due to post operative bladder neck stenosis due to infection following necrosis of prostatic tissue that is a known complication of vaporization . Please consult your operating Urologist for revaluation and repeat ultrasound scanning of the abdomen to find out any residual prostate. You need revision resection of prostate to clear the urethral passage .In the mean while you can go for Supra-pubic Cystostomy and put catheter to drain out the bladder.continuously and plan the procedure on later date after taking antibiotics for a week. There is no possibility of stone in the bladder. Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you Thanks and Regards. Dr.Patil.

Do not know size of prostate-we did vaporization because the heart surgery was just 2 months old and that is what the valve replacement Dr. recommended. When we saw the specialist he said everything was working Ok and the bladder was emptying all the way (kept 2 oz) Fritz just does not know why he hurts so much in both the penis and rectum? As of last Wed their was no infection anywhere.Fritz finally was able to clean out the bladder around 10:30 so now the burning has stopped- why does it block up-then we just dribble and burn and throb?

Brief Answer: Urethral Passge mught have blocked . Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for follow up. He had difficulty in passing urine due to blockage of urethral passage by a necrotic tissue which gets sloughed out between 3-4 weeks after surgery. Please get your urine culture done to rule out UTI. Ensure to drink more water .This will keep urine dilute and will help in washing out necrotic material from the site of vaporization . Thanks and Regards . Dr.Patil.
