What Causes Pain In Knees, Hips And Lower Back?

default
Posted on Sat, 18 Jun 2016
Question: My job moved to a new warehouse about a year ago. Since then I've had foot pain that has moved from my heels, to my knees, to my hips and even lower back. It has gotten worse over time. When I get up in the morning, I'm literally dragging one leg because I am extremely stiff. Eventually, it gets better, but not much. I've finally decided to see a doctor. Not what kind as far as specialty. What do you think this is and what type of doctor should I see?

Brief Answer:
orthopedics specialist or rheumatologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

such pain is usually caused by orthopedic disorders. Intervertebral disc disease, osteoarthritis or inflammatory disorders of the soft tissue of the joints may cause this pain. Ankylosing spondylitis is another concern although it's not as common as the aforementioned disorders. An orthopedics specialist or rheumatologist is the best initial choice of doctor. Since you've mentioned job in a warehouse, I suppose that you're lifting weights every so often. This kind of job may increase the risk for orthopedic disorders. On the other hand, feeling pain and stiffness after rest raises suspicions for ankylosing spondylitis.

So in conclusion, either an orthopedics specialist (better) or a rheumatologist would be the best initial choice.

Kind Regards!
