What Causes Pain In Jaws Under The Right Ear?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 May 2016
Question: HI. I have pain in my jaw just under my right ear. Worse in the morning, no redness in my mouth or gums. Does not hurt to eat.
Much worse when I bend over. Hurts when I stick my tongue out and move to left side.

I don't have any other symptoms, no sinus issues, no stuffy nose. Nothing. Just worsening jaw pain.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain you have pain in jaw just under your right ear.
It is more severe in the morning, on bending and also more on sticking the tongue out or moving to left side..
It can be due to common causes like:
1.Infection related to wisdom tooth.
2.Can be due to Parotid gland.
3.Ear infection..

I would like to know a few more details before I can guide you better..
1.Is the pain always present or happens suddenly at different occasion during the day?
2.Is there any swelling also present in the area?
3.Since how many days it is present?
4.Did you take any medicine for the pain?
5.Is there any pinpoint area of pain or the entire jaw pains?
6.Is it tender to touch also?
7.Do you ever get pain on the entire side of face radiating from jaw to Ear, cheeks, forehead etc?
8.Do you have any medical problems or are you on any Medication?

Hi!

Thank you for the reply.

No swelling. Pain in worse in the morning.
My wisdom teeth were removed a long time go. No pain anywhere other than right jaw just below the ear.

Not tender to touch, although light massage eases pain. No redness. I'm not on any medications beofre the symptoms or now other than I took ibuprofen this morning to ease the pain not did help.

Hurts more when I bend down.

No redness in my gums, no pain when I chew food. No bleeding gums.

Brief Answer:
Needs investigations for an appropriate diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome Again

As per your answers the pain can be either related to any muscle or can be a neurotic pain

But for confirmation, you need to get a proper clinical examination and investigations done like X ray , MRI scan for ruling out the abnormalities associated with the structures present in the area, then only the exact cause and treatment can be done
You should consult either a Medicine Specialist or an ENT Surgeon and get evaluated

As of now when there is pain you can take higher painkiller like Tramadol [only if not allergic]. This is a prescription drug, so you need to consult your doctor for this.

Regards.
