Question: Hi doctor ,
I have been pain in my head since last few weeks ( not headache ) specially on my left jaw . one night the pain was so severe that i had to take 800 mcg of Ipbroufen. The other morning , my wife noticed a lump below my ear and on both side. one was more larger than other. The jaw area is also very tender to touch and pain radiates to ear , discomformt in my eyes also and my head.

I went to doctor 2 days ago for this and she said NO ear infection or throat infection and told me to go ER as i am having pain in my eye balls sometimes and my temple area to rule out temporal Artrites. there were no lymp nodes swollen

I went to ER and they check my blood samples and my ESR was 5 and CRP was 1 and also my WBC and other vital bloods were perfectly normal .

the doctor made a differential diagnosis of Mumps .

I cam back to home and checked my previous blood record and I had vaccination of Mumps in my childhoood and was immune to it.

now its more then 5 days , i still have pain there , my ear is some how sounds full sometimes with pressure and fell that something is moving ( like fluid ) on my both jaw area and specially pain radiates to neck , temples and eyes is quite discomforting.

One thing to add here is I have a neuroma on my neck on 1 side and a cyst on ther other side and i have been told that they have no relation to this condition.

Please help me and let me know what avenue to explre

Brief Answer:
FNAC of lump.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I checked the photo, the lump is small to be noticeable.

The question is tricky. You seems to have symptoms and signs of some infection or inflammation but the labs were contradictory.

It needs more follow up and monitoring of the symptoms and palpation of the lump. It would also be good if the FNAC (needle aspiration) of the lump is undertaken and tested under microscope. This helps us to know the pathology.
The best specialist for the entire thing would be an ENT surgeon / Head & Neck surgeon who can examine the nature of the lump repetedly. Meantime you wait further without any untoward problems.

Brief Answer:
May not be connected

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Neuroma may not be connected to your problem. Antihistamine work more than what one knows. Sometimes they act as sleep inducers, mood elevators and for some pain killers. It is good that antihistamine works for you.

I am not worried at this time.
