What Causes Pain In Foot After Waking Up From Sleep?

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Jul 2014
Question: I am facing a problem wherein I face slight discomfort on the upper part of my foot (outer arch) on waking up from sleep. The discomfort reduces to a large extent once I start walking. The problem is on the upper (top) part of the foot towards the outer arch and not the sole. I had consulted an orthopaedic 3 weeks back and he had given some painkillers and an ankle binder to wear for a week. But the discomfort still persists on waking up. I am travelling abroad for a long 3 week holiday starting this weekend and thus wanted to seek an opinion on any treatment. There is no apparent swelling and I am able to walk normally during the day.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I have studied your case,
If pain is not reducing with medication then you may need to further investigate before going on holiday.
I will advise to do blood inv like complete blood count ,uric acid level, X ray foot and ankle.

If uric acid is raised and gout is confirmed you need to take medication and diet restriction.
Till time continue analgesic and start neurotropic like methylcobalamine.
For gout you may need medicine like febuxostat and, allopurinol you can start then according to blood uric acid level consulting his treating doctor.
There is also possibility of early arthritis which can be confirmed on blood inv and x ray.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
