Question: hello.. I experience chest pain and discomfort in cold weather. I've had 3 stress tests for angina, and all were negative. the last was 7 months ago. I still experience chest pain when exercising., but I can't get a doctor to take any notice of my symtoms. could this be angina?. I've been diagnosed with reflux disease.

Brief Answer:
Please consider an appropriate therapy for GERD.

Detailed Answer:

Hello XXXX!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I reviewed all your previous medical history, and I am glad to confirm you that your chest pain and discomfort do not seem to be cardiac angina.

As you experience chest pain during exposing in cold weather and when exercising, a cardiac reason of your complains would be confirmed for sure by those repeated exercise cardiac stress tests.

So relax! Nothing to worry about possible cardiac issues!

I would advise you to carefully consider an appropriate therapy for your gastro esophageal reflux, like PPIs (pantoprazole, lansoprasole, omeprazole), prokinetic therapy (domperidone, cisapride, metoclopramide, etc.).

You should discuss with your gastro-enterologist about this issue.

You should also consult with a neurologist to exclude possible back bones disorder, which could lead to nerve radicular pain in this region. A physical examination, a cervico-thoracal spine CT scan and nerve conduction studies may be necessary to rule in/out this possible diagnosis.

Hope to have been helpful!

Best regards,

Dr. Iliri
