What Causes Pain In Both Breasts Even After Mammography?

default
Posted on Fri, 30 May 2014
Question: Need help!!! I am having breast problems. My OBGYN found a fibrocystic tumor in my left breast and said it was not malignant. However, he did not biopsy and only did a second mammo on it. Both breasts are hurting real bad. The left breast is significantly smaller than the right one and the left one is leaking a clear fluid out of the nipple. Should I be alarmed about this that it might be cancer and get a second opinion?

Brief Answer:
Will require further evaluation by Ultrasound

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms,

In clinical practise biopsy is usually attempted if there is single dominant lesion in the breast. In your case you are experiencing pain in both the breast. It could be likely to be due to Fibrocystic disease of breast like Fibroadenosis . It usually causes nodularity in the breast. Sometimes one breast could be more affected than other, causing a little discrepancy in size of breast. Whether the discrepancy is significant or not depends on clinical assessment by the physician collaborated by palpation of breast. It would be helpful if you could provide clinical photograph.
The presentation of clear discharge from left nipple will require further evaluation. I would like to have additional information
1. Is there any retration of nipple
2. Is there any redness in nipple/areola
3.Duration of symptoms

Do get back to me with the details.

Take Care
