What Causes Pain In Back Below Ribs Lateral To The Right Side?

default
Posted on Fri, 13 May 2016
Question: I WROTE THIS BUT IT WAS NEVER RESPONDED TO.
Ive had back issues without answers.
Im without insurance so ive used this site a bunch.
I have had back pain for over 10 years.
Its due to bulges, canal stenosis and arthrosis in multiple discs in thorasic, lumbar and cervical. Its considered moderate.
My pain seemed to change around 2 years ago and seemed to be felt more out near my lower ribs, mainly on right side.
I guess it reduced as i didnt think about it much until i began noticing pain again in the same area.
Ive been checked out quite a bit with most recent urinalysis being yesterday.
I also picked up records of all my scans, labs, etc... To give you guys a better idea of the whole picture.

I had a CT of abdomen, pelvis, kidneys
In mid 2014 , it was normal
At that date all my blood work showed normal as well. Everything was checked including liver, pancreas, kidneys, cell counts, metabolic, etc...
Ive had a normal xrays and labs in early 2015 and a normal xray and labs 30 day ago.
Again all showed normal.
MY LABS FROM LAST MONTH ARE BELOW.
Xray - normal
Bun - 12
Creatine - 1.1
Glucose -101
Urinalysis - negative for protein, sugar, blood, WBC, RBC, bacteria, leuk, epithelial.

So, i keep showing normal but i did have 1 day recently where i urinated once and it was cloudy. I only noticed it that one time and havent seen anything since.
My urinalysis yesterday was again all normal.
When i was insured my doctor explined that the most recent CT wasnt that long ago and it was totally normal showing no damage or masses and with normal labs and no blood or protein in urine my pain was muscular.
So, now im wondering what this could be.
The only thing i can think of is that i drink quite a few colas each day and probably stay a little dehydrated.
Could this irritate the kidneys?
I also take tylenol daily for my back.
Sometimes Norco for back pain.
( yes, i know they both have acetaminophen and i dont ever mix them or exceed 1000mg of acetaminophen daily wether only taking tylenol or norco.)
I take nexium daily as well.
Never take NSAID's because they damaged my stomach in early 2000's when doctors gave me that for pain.

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

Your concern is appreciated

What i understood is that you are having pain in back below your ribs lateral to the right side . According to your history your all investigations are normal and have nothing abnormal in it so that will exclude many of the pathologies related to underlying visceras and structures like liver and kidneys.
History is prolonged consisting of two years that exclude all acute causes.
For this pain many causes are there like strain on intercoastal muscles , costochondritis , acid reflux and ulcers, gall stones, inflammatory bowl disease , pancreatitis , liver diseases like hepatitis and fatty liver, congestive liver kidney stones etc
But as everything came out to be normal it would be highly unlikely
You had history of back pain and canal stenosis with arthosis so it is possible that nerve root is compressed or this is causing bad posture and resulting in pain.
Bad posture can also result in pain
This may be psychosomatic presentation of the underlying stress and depression
Life style like sedentary life style lack of exercise poor diet and stress ful environment all can be contributing to it.

Hope it helps
Thanks.
