Question: I have had pain behind lower left ribs for the last 6 weeks. I have been burping quite a lot and have stomach gas and heart burn. It can go from dull ache to more severe pain and just makes me feel ill.
I have had ultra sound,ct scan ,X-rays , stress test ecg , endoscopy and all have came back clear don't know what to do next I feel so unwell that I can't work and when I do manual work I feel worse. I am reasonably fit and are used to working hard doing heavy lifting ect. I am 46 and a ex smoker do you have any idea what this could be.

Please follow the suggestions below,,

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking.
I read carefully all your concerns and i understood your query.

1.You are reporting to have burping, stomach gas, heartburn.
On the other hand you have done endoscopy and all came back normal. So these symptoms may be related with
-dyspeptic syndrome; a condition in which you feel stomach discomfort but nothing found on endoscopy.
- LPR ( silent laringopharingeal reflux)
This is why I recommend to start the treatment with PPI like prilosec and antacids.

2. You are reporting to have pain behind left ribs and that all results come back normal. To my opinion your symptoms may be related with:
- acid reflux like LPR
- IBS ( irritable bowel disease) and gas in colon.
- working position( posture), exercise

This is why I recommend to start a healthy diet like:
- use plenty of water
- avoid spicy, chilly and fatty foods
- use two pillows when you lay down
- avoid coffee, chocolate, tea and carbonated drinks.
If I were your treating doctor i would suggest to start the treatment with PPI like Prilosec and antacids.
Wish you fast recovery.
