What Causes Pain At The Base Of Dental Crown Post Root Canal Treatment?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jul 2015
Question: My dentist is on vacation so I am asking here. I had a crown put on a lower tooth about 3 months ago. A few days ago it started giving me pain when I tapped on it. It's sensitive when I touch the gum at the base of the tooth, and it's sensitive to cold.

Brief Answer:
Decay under crown, may require RCT

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing in.

As per your history, I assume your doctor did not perform root canal (RCT) before capping. If so, there is a possibility of secondary caries in that tooth. I would prefer you get this addressed at the earliest. If your current dentist is not going to be available soon, please visit another dentist. You may need to get X- Ray of that tooth. If require you might need Root Canal Treatment & then recapping.

Hope I answered your query,

Wishing you good health
