What Causes Pain Around Hips And Back After Multiple Abdominal Surgeries?
Question: I've had multiple abdominal surgeries. One was to remove a bunch of scar tissue from a previous surgery. This was about ten years ago. Last December I started having severe pain in my lower left side that shoots into my hip bone and sometimes radiates around my hip bone to the back. Recently the pain went from just sharp to sharp and badly burning. I went into the ER and my Neutrophils were high at 71.7 where normal is 36-66% and my Lymphocytes were low at 22.5 where normal is 24-44%. I've had all the symptoms of endometriosis but it was never mentioned regarding any previous surgeries.
I have an appt to hopefully talk about and schedule a laparoscopy, the day after tomorrow at an obgyn. Does this sound too serious to wait that long?

The symptoms doesn't sound as serious to warrant immediate attention. You can wait for your regular appointment which is scheduled day after. If the pain is troubling, you can use over counter pain medication or tablet dicyclomine which has antispasmodic effect.
In my opinion, laparoscopy would be right choice to establish/diagnose diagnosis. It would be more of a diagnostic laparoscopy than a therapeutic one. Treatment would be planned according to laparoscopy result.
Based on your description, the probable cause for pain can be endometriosis. Or it may be more adhesions.
Do not worry about blood counts. It most likely could be from an infection or inflammation. Your doctor may also look at urinary system for source of infection.
