What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Legs?

default
Posted on Wed, 7 Jun 2017
Question: Yes, thank you. For almost four weeks my son has experienced pain, swelling, and discoloration in the back of his leg, from the thigh downward. He has had an ultra-sound, CBC, ex-ray, and nothing was found. He sees his doctor and nothing else is done. The discoloration has been reduced but now the front of his leg below the knee ha s developed a dusky color. He still has the pain and swelling, but some of the swelling has been reduced. Thank you for your answer.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear what your son is going through. I am not exactly sure why he has this at this time but would love to review an image of this leg for clues. This might represent a spontaneous bleeding into the tissues and muscle or inflammation of the muscles such as myositis, pyodermal gangrenosum, etc. However, it is already a good sign that the pain and swelling and regressing.

Also, report any other medications beside percocet that he might be using at this time.
