What Causes Pain And Soreness In The Area Of Contusion?

default
Posted on Fri, 2 May 2014
Question: Last week I was in an auto accident. 30 mph, person hit the front right side. I threw my right arm out to protect my son. We both wore our seatbelts. My heart felt like it ripped open. They said I had a chest wall contusion. Top of my left breast still feels torn deep below, but does not hurt when touched. The follow up visit the Dr. Didn't even touch that area just said I will be sore for awhile. I also have a knee injury. It bruised with a cut. again the dr. didn't even feel it or move it around. I told them I have 18% nerve damage in that knee/leg, but it slightly hurts in the bruised area and in the back. Should I get a second opinion or I'd this normal? Thanks for your help.

Brief Answer: It is normal. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for posting your query. The pain and soreness in the area of contusion is a normal finding. If you are able to bear weight on the injured leg without much pain then there is no need to worry. All these are likely to be soft tissue injures. This will take a few weeks to heal completely. Just take rest and relax. In case there is a considerable swelling in the area with intense pain then investigations like MRI scan are recommended to find out the extent of injury. I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out. Wishing you good health. Regards. Dr. Praveen Tayal.
