What Causes Pain And Discomfort In The Scrotum?

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Dec 2016
Question: Im a 43 year old male and about a day and a half ago I started experiencing a dull pain from my scrotum (or left testicle, I'm not sure which) after showering. The four days leading up to this my masturbation frequency was more than usual. The pain is a little worse today, but still a dull pain. It's constant. I was wondering what this could be and at what point should I see a doctor? I recall experiencing this kind of thing over the years, but usually only for a few hours. I should also note I don't see any changes visually, no swelling or discoloration.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to Epididymitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have pain and discomfort in scrotum since 4 days .

This could be mostly due to infection of either spermatic cord ( Funicullitis ) or Epididymis (Epididymitis).

Take antibiotic like Doxixycline and anti inflammatory drug like Diclofenac twice daily for a week .

If problem ppersits you may need to consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis
1) Urine routine and urine culture
2) Ultrasound canning of scrotum
3) Color Doppler study of scrotum .

Further treatment will depend upon the results of these tests and final diagnosis .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

I have a couple of follow up questions.

-Does this type of problem ever clear up on it's own without meds?

-I have Ciprofloxacin 500mg tablets, would these work instead of the Doxi?

-Can excessive masterbation cause this problem, or is it unrelated?

Thank you

Brief Answer:
You need to take antibotic to cure it

Detailed Answer:
hello
Thanks for follow up .

You need to take antibiotic and anti inflammatory medication to resolve the problem
It will take long time to get cured itself without medicine or may get complicated by infection being refractory and chronic .

You can take Ciprofloxacin with Diclofenac twice daily

Excessive masturbation is one of the predisposing factors to get infection of Epididymis or Testis.

Thanks and Regards.
