What Causes Pain And Difficulty In Passing Urine?

default
Posted on Fri, 28 Aug 2015
Question: I had a cytoscopy with hydrodistension on Tuesday July 28 doctor said there were red dots indicating interstitial cystitis. They called at Friday July 31st and told me there were atypical cells in my urine. I deal with lots pressure and pain. Voiding sometimes is very hard for which I take flomax. I have hard a interdwelling cathater because I could not void. This lasted a few days then I was given a package and taught how to self catheter I had to do that for a few days and then things kind of normal except the urgency and pain. My question is how likely is it that this could be cancer. I'm still waiting on results of a diagnostic test they ordered Monday. Just worried!

Brief Answer:
It is unlikely to be cancer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have pain and difficulty in passing urine .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Since how long you have these symptoms?
2) Did you pass blood in urine at any time ?
3) Have you done urine culture?

Based on cystoscopic findings that you have mentioned it is likely to be a Bacterial Cystitis or Interstitial cystitis which will be confirmed on histopathology report which is expected to come in few days .

One thing I can say that it is unlikely to be cancer of bladder .

Please try to allay your anxiety and do write after you get the biopsy report .

In the mean while take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefexime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.

If you have urgency you may take Darifenacin once daily .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
