Brief Answer:
It is because the balance of neurotransmitters has not been restored

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic and for specifically choosing me to answer your query.

It is due to the requirement of replenishing the buffers and for repair of our damages that sleep is essential. We might not realize but anxiety takes a huge toll on our body. The nervous fatigue might be entirely different from the muscle fatigue that we face. The body is best judge of its tiredness. It is not necessarily due to physical tiredness that we fall asleep. We hardly realize the role that our nervous system is playing throughout the day but you realize the problems when it does not function well. Thus, if you do not get enough sleep on certain days of the year, chances are that the nervous system would not be able to function well and you feel horrible the next day.

Hope that answers your query. Feel free to revert back in case you have any other queries and I would be glad to help.

Regards
