Brief Answer:
SSRIs are used in treatment of these symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Welcome to Health Care Magic

I can understand your concern. You are on Cipralax which is Escitalopram and is a SSRI drug. The drug is a good drug for depression and anxiety disorders. The persistent, intrusive, dominating thoughts in mind are obsessive thoughts only. Even if individuals are aware of the purposeless nature of these thoughts still they persist in mind. A lot of individuals with depression show anxiety and obsessive thoughts. These thoughts are due to anxiety only. The exact cause of these thoughts can't be confirmed but deficiency of serotonergic neurotransmission is thought to be the reason behind these thoughts.

Cipralax helps to correct the serotonergic neurotransmission and thus helps in such symptoms. Higher doses are needed for proper relief of these symptoms. You haven't mentioned the dose of the drug you are taking but doses of 10-15 mg should help in these thoughts. Talk to your doctor for prescription.

Thanks, Hope this helps you, if you have more doubts you can ask again.

Take care
