default
Posted on Fri, 14 Oct 2016
Question: I am facing numbness in the calf muscle while I am sleeping or sitting. The numbness is mild but I can feel it. Also if I walk everything seems okay , then I do not feel any numbness. Also I had some vaginal infection a week before and I took some antifyngal medicines . Hope both the problems are not related . I am having this numbness from past one week , I had cut a green chilli , post that I had some burning sensation in my fingers for a day and after that I developed numbness in the legs.

Brief Answer:
you should start medications as per the advice of your doctor at the earliest

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Welcome to HCM,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern..

First of all, as you've rightly pointed out, there's no relation between this and the previous vaginal infection so don't worry..

Since you've already visited the Doctor, and advised for Vit B-complex and Vit-E supplementation, you should start it as advised without any further delay..

Please continue the calcium and Vit-D3 supplementation as already ongoing and after completion of 8-12 weeks, do recheck the level of serum calcium and Vit-D3..

It'd be appropriate to check for FBS, PPBS and HBA1C levels also to rule out underlying Diabetes/pre-diabetes involved..

If despite starting the medication, there's no significant improvement within next 7-10 days, I'd advice you to get yourself checked up by a Neurologist clinically to rule out any associated sensory-motor deficit in the first place..

Please be vigilant and if at all symptoms worsen/ there's any increase in the numbness or any new onset burning/tingling/ sudden onset pain/redness over the lower limbs then please don't delay any further and consult the neurologist at the earliest and a few more relevant investigations as per the clinical findings..

Take Care
Kind Regards
