What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In Right Foot After Smoking Drugs?

Question: I did heroin the day before yesterday and slept at 6:30 yesterday morning and woke up at 3pm yesterday afternoon and my right foot was completely asleep and I couldn't walk on it at all. as the day goes by I figured it would go away and it tingled all day and tightened up and felt heavy walking up the stairs so I had to slow down and lift my leg up and walking fast paced is hard be
cause it feels heavy. not its 2:46 and around 3pm when I woke up yesterday I smoked a gram of meth between three people. my foot just wouldn't wake up so I figured that would wake me up but it tingled allday and now its tingling still a little but tightens up like a XXXXXXX horse every now and then. I have work at seven can it wait til three this afternoon. what's going on with my foot. does the math and heroin.have anything to do with it and did the math make it worse? because my dad said j don't go to the doctor for a foot that's asleep but he doesn't know about the drugs at all
And I went to our local hospital where they don't have a neurologist so all the doctor could do was examine my foot by testing its strength and he said neurapraxia but thinks there is possible nerve damage because of how long my foot was badly positioned when I slept and for how long its been asleep for over 12 hours now, said he just didn't have the equipment to give me a full evaluation and I think it could be the term foot drop because I can't walk up steps or walk fast because my foot feels heavy and it's like my ankle and feet don't listen when I try to pull it up to another step or if I walk really fast my right foot is not as quick when it comes to moving to my left so I almost trip over myself and have to slow down to make sure they I can walk at a pace to where both feet can have me walking without falling. So I'm asking if I should go to the bigger hospital and have a real legit doctor check it out and a.neurologist if needed and have test run. To see what it could be or if I could wait and set up an appointment through my primary doctor with a neurologist if that would be okay too but wanted to know your opinion because I don't want to walk anymore on it and do cause even more damage.

Brief Answer:
Consult a neurolgist and neuro centre for investigations

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

You have history of drug intake which has ill effects.

There are two possibilities regarding your lower limb weakness. The first more likely possibility is nerve compression due to sleeping in awkward position leading to neuropraxia. This recovers slowly in few days on its own in most cases depending upon nerve damage.
For this you should consult a neurologist and get evaluated. Steroids and vitamin B12 supplementation may be required. Nerve conduction will be helpful after 2-3 weeks.

Second possibility is less likely cause of lower limb distal weakness. In some patients substance abuse may lead to blood pressure variability and autonomic dysfunction leading to cerebral infarct or bleed. More symptoms like headache, vomiting, seizures, consciousness disturbances may accompany.

It will be better to get clinically examined by a neurologist for proper evaluation, investigation and treatment at the earliest.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
