What Causes Numbness And Swelling In Left Side Of Lips And Face?

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Apr 2014
Question: Tonight I developed numbness and swelling in my left lips and face. Wonder if I have some need of stroke treatment. I am 74 years old and had elevated blood pressure after my wife died August 10, 2010. I went to the emergency room with a severe headache and elevated blood pressure after my wife's funeral. After about 4-6 hours of observation in the hospital they reduced my blood pressure and my headache left. Since then I have been taking lisinapril 10 mg. once a day before bedtime. I had this inflamation and numbness about two weeks ago. This evening I took two baby aspirin. I don't monitor my blood pressure and am usually quite physically active. Generally my health is good and I have no chronic diseases.

Brief Answer: It can be a transient ischemic attack Detailed Answer: hello, I can understand your concern. As a case of hypertension you are a potential candidate for brain haemorrhage . I would suggest you to show to a neurologist if your symptoms increases or you start feeling weakness in your fingers or foot. At present you do not need to be worried. I would also forbid you from taking Aspirin with such symptoms as if there is bleeding in brain then Aspirin will increase it. I would also suggest you to take regular BP checkup as some time dose of lisinopril has to be adjusted. So better to keep a digital BP apparatus at home and once in fifteen days get it check by doctor. Also for current situation I would suggest you to take Pregabalin and methylcobalamine tablets. these drugs are good for nerves. Let me know if you want to ask any other thing. Thanks and take care.
