What Causes Numbness And Burning Sensation In Hand After Treating Herniated Discs?

Question: I am a 39 year old woman , I herniated discs l4-5, l5-s1 last summer. I chose conservative treatments over surgery. Had two caudel injections last year than got pregnant. suffered from what was thought to be sacral iliac joint dfxn durning pregnancy. Delivered my child in Aug & this month I had my third caudel injection. I did not get another MRI beforehand. The day after the injection I experienced numbness and tingling/burning sensation in both hands and both feet. This went away after 24 hours, the very next day, I Came down with a respiratory infection, took zpak, 1 week later numbness/tingling returned and has been constant for a week now. My PCP has tested my thyroid, b12 lvl ( which is actually high) sed rate( slightly elevated),crp (nrml), cbc, cmp. I am scheduled for another MRI next week. Stopped my prenatal vit. On no other meds.
Could this still be related to the injection? some sort of reaction? I am concerned that this could be MS however the sx started right after the injection and I have had no other sx of MS?? thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Continue treatment and get MRI

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
The treatment of lumbar disc prolapse depends upon pain and neurodeficit.
The first line of treatment is conservative in most cases with physiotherapy, pain modulators and lumbar support.
In case of poor response invasive methods or surgery is advocated.
In your case the tingling sensations both in hand and feet may well be secondary to reaction to injection. But no long term such effect may persist and other cause to be searched .
Repeat Mri is advisable. unlikely to be multiple sclerosis.
You need to continue medications, physiotherapy.
Review again with mri images or report for further advice.
Communicate if you are suffering from any other illness.
