What Causes No Growth After Certain Age In Girls?

Question: Hi, my daughter who is 14 years old, who till the age of 12 was growing normally and post her period started her growth in terms of height is stopped. what could be the reasons?

Brief Answer: Depends on puberty Detailed Answer: Hi Thanks for writing to health care magic. Girls generally have a growth spurt at the time of puberty. Usually the peak surge is between 10 to 14 years. Some get this peak earlier if they attained puberty earlier. The maximum height is usually reached by 14 in girls and 16 in boys. But I would suggest you to get tour child examined for anemia and nutient deficiency which can impair growth at this age. If found and treated for problems like anemia and nutritional deficiency there is still scope of increase in height. Wishing your child good health. Regards Dr Arun
