Brief Answer:
Likely to be irritable bowel syndrome

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

The symptoms mentioned by you are both upper and lower gastrointestinal symptoms. The symptoms arise because of the following
1. Decreased consumption of fiber in diet
2. Decreased intake of water
3. Stress/anxiety
4. Premenstrual syndrome: such symptoms may worsen before onset of periods.

I assume you have only undergone Blood investigation. I would also suggest you the following investigation in consultation with your physician
1. Ultrasound abdomen
2. Upper gastointestinal endoscopy

In the meantime i would suggest you the following

1. Water intake: Ensure good intake of water 2-3 liter a day
2. Higgh fibre diet: 2 servings of vegetable salad, 2 servings of fruits preferable one fruit be citrus fruit
3. Avoid constipating diet: avoid food stuffs ontaining refined wheat flour like bread and biscuits

Single dose of Amitiza will not be sufficient. Would suggest you to continue using it.

In case you require any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take Care

I only drink water at least 4 32oz cups a day. I have tried the fiber it did nothing (a few months) I have started a diet that avoids anything flour similar to one of celiac disease. still nothing. We have just done blood work and i agree with you that they probably need to look closer at the situation. Could with all my symptoms I have hypothyroid even though my blood work is normal. I am taking an herbal supplement cascara sagrada and i am getting some relief from this the IBS pills that he has perscribed me are not working at all. I also know I can only take this herb for no more than 2 weeks. My upper stomach and rib cage is pretty painful and it is making it hard to breath. thank you

Brief Answer:
Normal thyroid profile rules out hypothyroidism

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Greetings

If the Thyroid profile ( Serum T3, T4 and TSH) is within normal limits, the cause of symptoms are not due to Hypothyroidism.
Continue taking the herbal medicine if its providing relief.

In view of your young age and description of your symptoms its unlikely to be gall bladder pathology. It appears more likely to be acid peptic disease with reflux oesophagitis(inflammation of food pipe).

Following could be predisposing factors
1. Stress
2. Irregular intake of food
3. Excessive consumption of caffeinated/carbonated beverages

I would suggest you the following which will definitely provide the much needed relief
1. Combination of Proton pump inhibitor and anti-emetic : Suppressing the gastric acid by Pantoprozole and stomach motility increasing drug like Domperidone will provide much needed relief
2. Regularize food intake
3. Liquid antacid: Antacid containing Simethicone will be helpful.
4. Avoid caffeinated /carbonated / alcoholic beverages

In case the symptoms persists you will require further evaluation by your Physician.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take Care
