What Causes Nausea, light Headedness And Dizziness After Drinking Coffee?

default
Posted on Fri, 25 Apr 2014
Question: Hi, This morning after my morning coffee I had a very sudden onset of the following: Nausea, sick stomach, light headedness and dizziness. All symptoms were pretty intense and I had to lie down. Again, these symptoms just stormed upon me like the Germans did to Poland in 1939. But after about an hour, just as suddenly as they appeared all symptoms began to dissipate and within about 30 minutes they had all completely disappeared. Any idea of what that could have been? I did not take any medicine by the way.

Brief Answer: Suspected spike in blood pressure... Detailed Answer: Hi, I have gone through your queries and medical history carefully. The symptoms you have experienced after having your morning coffee might be related to: - increased (spike) blood pressure - gastritis attack I advise to : - monitor your blood pressure - avoid coffee, citrus, energetic drinks until improvement - have your meals regularly - avoid fatty, salty, fried foods You are reporting to have type 2 diabetes. Please bare in mind that diabetes is associated with cardio-vascular problems, where the majority of cases are from hypertension. That's why it is very important to monitor your blood pressure (especially when having such episodes) and to run EKG and cardiac echo. Hope it was of help! Let me know if you have further queries! Brief Answer: Following answer to your query... Detailed Answer: Hi back, Some of my diabetic patients have reported a general non-well feeling when they have spikes in blood sugar levels. It is more like feeling lightheaded or hot flashes. Nausea and sick stomach are being reporting as side effects of anti-diabetic drugs. Your situation might indicate more a hypoglycemic episode rather than spike in blood sugar. However, you can make a self-testing if you get through the similar episode in future. Hope it answered your queries to your satisfaction! If yes, please close this thread and kindly rate my answer. Otherwise, I'll welcome any other query you might have! Dr.Albana
